Weekly Insight: Personal Growth

Updated: Aug 11

"If the egg is broken by an outside force, life ends. If it’s broken by an inside force, life begins. Great things always begin from the inside." - Jim Kwik

A few years ago, I faced the passing of my husband of 34 years, and at the same time, I was hospitalized with a personal health scare.

The stress I dealt with took me out of the corporate world and forced me to slow down, de-stress, re-evaluate and change my life. I started working on myself in the area of personal growth. I felt I was being broken by outside forces and my responses of grief, sadness and numbness, and I needed to regroup and figure out who I was and what to do next. Personal growth is the vehicle I used to develop self-awareness, which was a starting point for my new journey.

Taking an inventory of my strengths, weaknesses, values, and beliefs helped me make informed decisions and align my actions with my true self. I was able to establish clear, achievable goals, providing me with direction and motivation. I further developed my mindset of lifelong learning. I took online courses, read, and learned new skills and hobbies. By further developing my emotional intelligence, I could recognize and manage my emotions and understand the emotions of others.

I built resilience to cope with setbacks and challenges. Being adaptable allows me to adjust to new situations and changes effectively. I developed healthy habits, such as regular exercise, a balanced diet, adequate sleep, and the practice of mindfulness and meditation, to support my physical and mental well-being.

I cultivated a positive attitude and gratitude, which changed my outlook on life and improved my mental health. I want to help if you need to make some changes to grow and refine your purpose.

Personal growth is a continuous journey that requires commitment and effort. Focusing on your true self can enhance your overall well-being, achieve your goals, and lead a fulfilling life.
